Just One Little Word

happy new year!

yes, yes, yes, a fresh start.  thank goodness because i have so need a do-over.
the slate is wiped away clean, my hopes and dreams
are refreshed and i am so excited for the things to come!

last year, my word of the year was FOCUS.  at first, i thought that meant more focus on my business
and more focus on my future.  however, as the days, weeks and months passed me by, it was not until late october/early november that i realized my FOCUS was really meant for nana and her needs.
once i realized that, my world completely changed.
while i still wanted to focus on my business and "what i want to be when i grow up",
really and truly, i needed to step back and focus on
nana's well-being, her health, and how
mom and i can accept, understand and live with alzheimer's as it slowly takes nana away from us.

so this year, i listened to all the whispers....

PATIENCE

i am not sure how this will play out in my life as i have learned from years past,
just because i pick a word, it often evolves over the months so
i'm open to it's meaning.

this year, i am also so very grateful for an amazing group of women that came into my life from Flying Lessons with kelly rae roberts.  they are my flygirls.
some of us are doing a blog hop in hopes of sharing more inspiration with you and
each will share their word of the year.

please have a look around their blogs as they are some of the most talented, beautiful souls.
i watched many of their wings spread wide open and followed each of them
with pride as they soared and followed their dreams.

michelle hill <------ you are here

my hope is that the gift we give to you throughout this blog hop
will fill your heart with love, inspiration, dreams, encouragement and belief in yourself and others.

have you picked your WOTY yet?  it's not too late.  Here's a great resource for you.
i'd love to hear about your word!

  2. Hi Michelle,
Thank you for your blog post; I especially loved the reminder that it will be helpful to stay open to what our word really means and will become throughout the year: life is unpredictable.

Happy to be on this blog circle with you!!

  3. Patience. Wow. We could probably all use that word! It applies to so many layers of our lives. I always need to be reminded of patience especially when setting goals. When I decide I want to do something...I want to do it right then! But...it may take months..or a year to achieve that goal. I need the patience to just enjoy the ride after I have put my plans in motion. Funny, I wrote about my 2013 word - Transformation today. I totally missed the blog circle! HAPPY NEW YEAR DEAR ONE!

  6. Oh dear. I've asked for Patience before and, wow, did my life change to make that word manifest in my life!!! But did I receive more patience? You bet I did. I cherish what I learned through that desire for myself. May you have MANY blessings this year as your word unfolds in 2013. I'm so happy I will get to travel (FLY) with you and watch as your word unfolds and wraps itself around you!

  7. Dearest Michelle,
What a tough & wise word you gave yourself, so I went over to the dictionary to see it's synonyms and it was horrified! ...even more difficult. Then I got to thinking, I had always liked that word for many reasons.
So another search came about more like in the virtue department and yes! what an excellent choice. There was amazing accomplishments and realizations connected to patience.
One of the best ones I found was: Genius is eternal patience. ~ Michelangelo
Many hugs to you and I look forward in visiting you in the Parlor of Patience! Happy New Year :-)

  8. Hey Michelle, You are such a sweet and loving soul. I so admire what you are doing with your life and with your Nana. You are blessed to have her as she is to have you. Patience is a great choice! They always say, be careful what you ask for when you ask for patience. But I think it will allow you to slow down and really see the new things that will come into your life this year. Without patience, you might miss the meaning of them. Sounds quite peaceful to me. I wish you Patience laced with Peace. huggs

  9. Michelle,
I think Patience chose you this year, it sounds like a perfect word. I'm sure at some level your Nana is thrilled to have you be there with her. Take time to enjoy the time you have together.

  10. Oh my sweet Michelle, patience is such a perfect word. So many times I had to take a deep breath and remind myself of that. You are such an amazing soul and I am so sorry that you have to go through this. Remember to be patient with yourself too. Give yourself some slack and let yourself take what you need to keep your soul flying.

  11. Sweet Michelle. I really feel for you while you and your family struggle with this terrible decease... I've gone through it 3 times now with family members and it's really just so sad! You are in my prayers, and you have already proven you have the patience but sometimes we all think we need a little bit more! I wish you the very best in 2013 and will be here to Fly by your side! xo

    1. Hi Michelle, I'm joining Kathie since I know this shocking experience so personally. I stood by my dear mother, who had been one of my best friends for so, so long as dementia settled into her being. She passed from earth to heaven this past year. I'm holding you in my heart, as I know some days you want to run and hide. Patience is good, a couple of trusted friends who will hold you up at times is a God send. Your writing is clean and descriptive-I like it! So nice to meet you amongst the Flyers. BeckyRedBarn

  12. Michelle, sending you hugs! I also think you should remember to be patient and gentle with yourself. It is so hard when you're in the thick of things, but so important. Of course, all your flying sisters are here to support you! Wishing you all the best. xo

  20. I love that you are so open. I'm so amazed at how God blesses us in ways we never expect...I chose the word health for this year, but as I continued to read and pray I felt it needed to change to FOCUS! Right now what that means to me is to focus on taking better care of my whole self. Thanks for sharing, Michelle. HUGS from Oregon!
